I started following an Instagram account called @Lawyer_Stories. It's an inspiring account that features attorneys and their personal stories, ranging from why they became an attorney to the difficulties in the cost and debt associated with a higher education. I was recently featured so be sure to check out and like the post.
Here is my story. I hope it inspires you.
"I decided to become an attorney at a young age. Having grown up with an immigrant single mom working two factory jobs, I saw the challenges she faced because she did not have a higher education. I wanted better for myself and better for her so I chose a profession in which I felt I could excel. Growing up, I loved to argue my point and I always won. This was not the case once I got to law school.
Law school was a new atmosphere and more challenging than I expected. However, through studying diligently and seeking help and guidance from professors, I was able to improve academically and professionally. Law school primarily teaches you how to think like a lawyer, but in today’s legal world, you also need to know how to network and present your best self in everything that you do. I was fortunate enough to attend a law school where academia and networking are both made a priority.
The jobs that I have obtained have all been through networking. I understand that the legal field is challenging, but the wins, when they happen, are extremely rewarding.
Anyone in or considering the legal field who would like to chat more, feel free to contact me."
